Sara Queen Brown has been enjoying folk dance all her life through her father, Sam Love Queen. Known as “The King of the Square Dance” Sara’s father surrounded her with music, dance and calling every day of her life. In 1939, when Sara was only 17 years old, she square-danced for the King and Queen of England at the White House. Folkmoot helps Sara continue to enjoy the art of folk dance. By donating funds to restore the wonderful Folkmoot Friendship Center Auditorium and naming it after father, Sam Love Queen, Sara is allowing her father’s legacy and passion of folk dance to live on. Growing up around this kind of passion and enjoyment has made Sara into the woman she is today.
Folkmoot is extremely grateful to have this wonderful and inspiring women as part of our community and look forward to continuing the partnership and friendship Folkmoot and Sara have shared thus far.
