They may hail from western Canada – Winnipeg, to be precise – but the dances of Italy course through their dancing hearts – Canadian, yes, but oh so Italiano!

Le Ragazze Italiane will be one of the featured performing dance troupes during Folkmoot Festival 2018, running July 19 and through July 29 along with dance troupes from Ghana, Czech Republic, Mexico, Thailland and Northern Cyprus and Venezuela as well as Anglo Appalachian and, as always, Cherokee dancers and musicians.

Ticket packages and tickets for individual performances are available here.

Le Ragazze has been together since 2007 and combined bring together over 50 years of experience, sharing their love of Italian culture, music and dance with diverse audiences. The troupe has performed at various community festivals, church functions and has been known to dance the night away during Winnipeg’s best festival – Folklorama.

The very essence of Italian culture is embodied in the troupe’s repertoire and includes dances from all the various regions of Italy.

“Le Ragazze would be pleased to share with you the culture, rhythm and spirit that is demonstrated through the passion of dance,” explains the troupe in its publicity. “Allow the swish of a skirt, the shake of a tambourine and the vibrant dances as interpreted by Le Ragazze to draw you into the piazzas of Italy.”

You can discover more about Le Ragazza at the group’s Facebook page or on its Instagram.
