February News from Folkmoot

In partnership with Western Carolina University, Folkmoot is proud to host a Lunar New Year event in Waynesville, NC.  This lively event will feature Asian food, games, crafts and traditional Lunar New Year events.  The festivities will take place at the Folkmoot Friendship Center on Friday, February 16 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Entertainment will include an Indonesian Gamelon performance by the Low Tech Ensemble, with the Gamelan Gunung Biru for the Blue Ridge Mountains. The instruments are from West Java, called Sunda, with the musical style called Gamelan Degung. Folkmoot is working with Collette Tours to offer an affordable, informative and fun ten day trip to Scotland, departing April 7, 2019 and returning April 16, 2019.  This trip is for those interested in history, antiquity, art, archeology, culture, and for the joy of traveling to different parts of the world. Trip highlights include a bagpipe lesson, a whiskey distillery tour, Loch Ness, Isle of Skye, Scottish cooking and more. Learn more.



In partnership with Western Carolina University (WCU), Folkmoot is proud to host an African Friendship Dinner experience on Friday, March 16, 2018.  Featuring African food, dance, and activities, the event will take place from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Folkmoot Friendship Center.
