Join your friends and neighbors – Saturday, May 2 – to Celebrate May Day with Folkmoot USA’s renewed vision and mission of a globally-connected community through cultural exchange!
Much of Western Carolina is expected to be on hand at the Folkmoot Friendship Center, 112 Virginia Avenue (the historic Hazelwood School), to dance, sing, play music, dine on international foods, sample special craft beers from our own regional breweries, sip international coffees roasted by our own regional roasters, enjoy plenty of other refreshments, activities and fun!
The Friends of Folkmoot will also hold a very special sale of incomparable Folkmoot memorabilia, exchanged gifts, art and treasures collected over the nearly four decades of the cultural exchange of music and dance.
Don’t miss the party!
It will be a community gathering to celebrate the arrival of our mountain summer season while also learning about and finding ways to get involved with the renewed Folkmoot as a year-round center for education, entertainment, cultural exchange, economic opportunities and a beacon for peace and understanding throughout the world.
We will have plenty of activities and information. We’ll have dancing and music! Fun events for the entire family!
We will also crown two International Ambassadors, selected from a court of Western Carolina residents with International or family ties. The court – to be named soon – will campaign for the posts of top male and female International Ambassadors. You will know them and they will be in touch with you for your support.
More details about the party and the event will be announced soon but plan on joining us May 2 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the first great party of the season!
(The second great party of the season will be the 2015 Folkmoot USA Folklife Festival set for July 16-26.)
